I have listened to cognitive psychology professor Donald Hoffman quite a bit. He has given many lectures and talks on how our senses and neurological system may be presenting us with a biased version of reality. It is interesting to think about how far off we potentially could be, given how little we currently know about how the brain and our experiences work. Hoffman has said that according to his game theoretic simulations on how the species evolves, the human body should have created senses which are biased towards achieving the ultimate evolutionary goals of survival and reproduction. It seems reasonable to me that the species able to bend its experience of reality to its advantage could become the superior one, such as us humans. Unfortunately, it is somewhat of an untestable theory, but it is nevertheless a mindboggling idea that the world could differ a lot from how we experience it from the human body. I recommend listening to Donald Hoffman on Youtube!
